How Do I Become a Team Captain?

 

Sign up in person on one of the following pickup dates listed below or sign up online HERE 

 

Team Captain Materials and T-shirts will be available utilizing a pre-order system (links are listed below) and drive thru pick-up schedule.  Materials should be ordered at least 48 hours ahead of the designated pick-up dates listed below.  You may also email or call in your order at Ledford@guministry.org or at 336.553.2641.

T-shirts are $7 each.  Payment can be made with cash, check (make payable to CROP Walk) or credit card (for orders of $50 or more). 

No exchanges or refunds will be given.

If you are a new team captain and interested in more formalized training, we will offer one-on-one coaching where we will be reviewing recruiter responsibilities, procedures, and best practices for recruiting a team and raising funds and we will be registering teams online. Also, team captains are provided recruiter packets include walk papers, walker envelopes, deposit slips, t-shirt order information, and CROP posters, as well as other CROP resources.

How Do I Deposit Donations?

DO NOT BRING ANY CROP WALK DONATIONS TO THE WALK!

• Encourage your walkers to turn in their donations to you ASAP – it is best if they are turned in BEFORE the Walk. Deposit all funds collected into the Truist Bank CROP Walk account. Make sure to include your organization’s name on the deposit slip – if you do not do this, we do not know who made the deposit. Deposit slips are included in your Recruiter’s Packet. More deposit slips can be picked up at the CROP Walk office at Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 W. Gate City Blvd. The deadline to have all CROP funds deposited is December 1, 2024. The CROP bank account name:  (CWS Greater Greensboro CROP Hunger Walk)
• After the Walk: Collect all sponsor records from your walkers (used and unused). Turn in these and any other CROP Walk materials not used (ie posters, pamphlets, etc.) to the CROP Walk Office.
• Thank everyone from your organization who supported the CROP Walk and report how much was raised.
• Collect donations from walkers as soon as possible – even before the Walk!
• All checks should be payable to CROP Walk. Endorse all checks by writing “CROP” or “For Deposit Only” on the back.
• If you receive a check made payable to your congregation or organization, endorse it for them, then write underneath: “For Deposit Only – Greensboro CROP Walk.”
• The deposit slip has two parts. To fill out, press firmly on a hard surface using a ballpoint pen. Keep the duplicate copy for your records.
• Print the name of your congregation, organization, or group on the deposit slip. This will assure proper credit to your group.
• List all checks separately for deposit. You may use an adding machine (attach tape) or list checks on a separate sheet of paper.
• For any team member that donates $250 or more, the team captain needs to notify the CROP Walk Office and supply the donor’s information for providing a tax receipt.
